Name: Amy Marwick
Hometown: Edinburgh and Aviemore in Scotland, and Morzine, Portes du Soleil, France.
Sport: Skiing
I spent lots of time outdoors with my family when I was growing up, particularly in the north of Scotland. I began skiing as a toddler and had many happy days on the dryslope at Hillend in Edinburgh. I was always devastated when we had to leave the Alps after family holidays and vowed that as soon as I finished school I would spend a season out there. After my first winter season, I began working through my ski teaching qualifications so that I could afford to spend lots of time exploring the Alps. I got into a freeride competition during a season in New Zealand and have since competed in FWQ in Scotland and Europe.
Today I work between the French Alps and Aviemore in Scotland, teaching and guiding ski touring. I have my own company, Yoyosno Ski & Yoga Retreats, combining ski development with yoga tuition. I also work with Fall-Line Magazine testing gear and writing features. In the next few years, I hope to gain more ski mountaineering experience and get on top of some more 4000m plus summits and hunt down some more powder turns meantime.

Yoyosno Ski & Yoga Retreats http://www.yoyosno.com, ski touring around Scotland and guiding women's courses in the Alps and Scotland |
-Successes- |
Making a Scottish ski film – 'Late' – but anyone who has trudged around the Scottish mountains in the rain has made a big achievement! |
-Favourite Scarpa- |
The Scarpa Gea RS – it’s the first lightweight touring boot I’ve owned that can still hold firm on the downhill. |
-No Place too Far- |
I’d go and stay for a month (or more) at one of those ridiculously luxury backcountry ski lodges in British Columbia that are only accessible by heli, to climb and ski first descents, and ski across the pond for the first time. |
