Get to know FinlayTell us about your successes so far?I’ve had a successful junior career on the uk domestic scene with national titles and medals in fell and Mountain running as well as successes on an international level running for GB at several World & European mountain running championships with an Individual medal at the 2022 Euros and multiple team medals throughout. I have also had successes at international races outside of the GB team, for my local club Dark peak fell runners, with 1st place at the 2022 Sierre zinal Junior race & 2nd(1st u23) at the 2023 UTMB YCC race.. |
What are you working on? What are your goals for the future?In the future I am targeting the Sky runner World series races and Mountain running World cup series. Trying to replicate my success in the junior ranks into the Senior circles. |
Why do you run? What do you love about running?I was always active as a youngster and started running early. I was never particularly good to start with but still loved it. Then now it has become I major part of my life in all aspects. And I find it is a good way to travel and explore new places as well as unwind after a long day at work. |
Which Scarpa shoe is your favourite?The Spin ST and Spin Race. I am a big fan of thin, light, grippy, agile shoes so these the models are perfect for my needs in the respective ground conditions (Wet and Dry). |
Tell us about your best day running?Any big day out in the mountains. Lakes, Highlands, Alps. All good as long as its hilly. |
What do you do away from your sport?Outside of my running I am currently and electrical engineering and mechanical maintenance apprentice working towards getting my qualifications in those fields. With a long time goal of trying to move further North closer to the big hills for training and fun.
